Perpetual Loop.

To a sixteen year old’s feeble mind, Haruki Murakami is the truth, more so when he cuts down to the core of the simple truth: Reality and I exist simultaneously at this present moment (from Murakami’s “Sleep”)

Inevitably, one grows up old.

Growing up and re-reading some of his works, one begins to question the depths of certain realities. Murakami might have easily forgotten that different realities exist simultaneously. We need not go into Marvel or DC universes to tap into alternate realities. We just have to look at various everyday people to realize Alan Lightman’s beautiful theory. Different realities exist because people allow them to exist. Some are trapped in a certain era, with no intent of moving forward. Some are stuck in moving forward without any penchant for recollection of the past.

No matter how much we feign its presence, alternates realities subsist as we all exist simultaneously: in thoughts, dreams, and deeds. We collide further with each other, often creating inaudible sounds, vibrations, and ripples in the proverbial pond of existence. The vibrations pull us to different directions, and we choose based on our preconceived notions of truth, or the efficacy of our desire, or even the call of the most basic necessities. We start gravitating towards one direction, wherever we feel we best belong to or whichever is necessary for us at the moment.

We move because we exist. We create realities because we have to survive or adapt. In the fabric of time and space, we are in perpetual flux. And our motion dictates the pattern of our realities.
